Teratism
Grubby and dirt ridden medium paced Black Metal is what Teratism herald on their startling fourth full length. Right from the first opening moments of ‘Iesous Khristos Cambion’ they drag you into their subterranean lair to be disciplined with thoroughly rotten and violent soundwaves. Ten tracks of excellently written and delivered harshness. As above ‘Iesous Khristos Cambion’ begins with a fairly solid but slow section featuring a trippy bassline but it quickly solidifies and picks up tempo into the core of the song. As the initial vocal salvo is launched a fresh offering of malice is heaped upon the ears. this is a band that need no lightning fast blast beats It becomes evident that this is a band that need no lightning fast blast beats or a billion picks a minute from the strings to make nasty music. Preferring to use sinister key changes with subtle adjustment to riffs and velocity as demonstrated witin the malignant pulsing of ‘My Wintery Embrace’. After the next couple you’ll really begin to savour what Teratism have done. You can tell that they aren’t bowing to any trends or the will of others but simply abiding by their own influences, talent and, most importantly, will. ‘He Decends’ vividly exhibits the depth of music through rasping vocal shrieks that are often puked forth with a ton substance thanks to intelligent layering in just the right places and the value of having an audible bass guitar. an injection of soily undead essences infused with filth ‘From Serpent Loins, Poison Life’ stirs the cauldron with an injection of soily undead essences infused with filthy old school riffing and more horrendous screaming. That is over all too quickly and ‘Necrofuge’ barrels forth like a skeletal cavalry charge that lasts for six minutes. ‘Hagion Pneuma, Apochoreo’ introduces a more tune laden dimension even though it uses only a couple of riffs to good effect. ‘A Trillion Slain’ boosts tempo as it careers through three and a half minutes of all out assault. Whereas ‘He, Wretched One’ is a great combination of everything. ‘I Am The Darkness’ and ‘Satanos Thronos Esti (Via Negativa)’ keep the consistency up right to the bitter end. You get the feeling Teratism have a serrated machete buried into your midrift and that whole band are leaning over you menacingly and twisting the blade as one. This is an excellent album, one which comes thoroughly recommended but not only is the music of high calibre, the CD is well packaged with an outer card sleeve featuring extra artwork. Couple this with the well presented extensive 12 page booklet inside and you have something that is really worth your coin and more.
